5 High-Protein Foods You Need to Eat

Eating high-protein foods is the key to staying healthy and losing weight. That’s why it’s such a critical component of the 17 Day Diet.

Now, I don’t want you to eat two dozen eggs or two pounds of bacon everyday – that’s certainly NOT healthy. But, I do want you to get all the fat-burning benefits from these high-protein foods:

1. Eggs:

Eggs are one of the most power-packed, nutrient rich foods you can eat. They are filled with minerals and vitamin, good fat, protein and everything else good too. You can eat up to two eggs per day on the 17 Day Diet – in any cycle. If you have high cholesterol, do not eat more than four egg yolks a week. But feel free to eat as many egg whites are you want – these are almost pure protein!

2. Chicken Breast

Another one of my favorite, high-protein foods. You can eat as much lean, skinless chicken breast as you want on the 17 Day Diet, in any cycle. Chicken breasts are very easy to cook (grill or baked) and you can spice them up too.

3. Fish

A great source of Omega 3’s and protein, fish is a great choice when you need an energy boost. I recommend salmon, sole, flounder, tuna, tilapia, catfish and any other white, flaky fish. Avoid “meatier” fish like swordfish and mackerel and they are more likely to contain toxins. You can have as much fish as you like on any cycle of the 17 Day Diet. In a ½ ounce piece of salmon you can get up to 40 grams of protein! Now that’s a high-protein food!

4. Broccoli

One of my favorite vegetables because it’s packed with a range of nutrients like Vitamins K & C, potassium, fiber and of course protein. If that wasn’t enough it’s also filled with phytochemicals (disease-fighting substances in plants), which help the liver detoxify various types of pollutants from the food supply, drugs, and the environment. Enjoy as much broccoli as you want on any cycle of the 17 Day Diet!

5. Whey Protein

Whey is one of the most exciting nutritional discoveries in the food world today. It is rich in certain amino acids that have remarkable effects on health and performance and is one of my favorite high-protein foods.

Whey protein helps reduce hunger and increases feelings of fullness. It also has an unusually rich supply of an amino acid called tryptophan, which is involved in making serotonin, a feel-good chemical, in the brain. If you’re low in tryptophan, you can start craving carbs, sleeping poorly, acting impulsively (like wolfing down that food you shouldn’t be eating), and being in a bad mood. Whey protein goes a long way to pre-vent these ill effects, so I think it’s a near-perfect food for dieters. For the 17 Day Diet, you’ll want to include 100 percent whey protein powder, in vanilla to make some delicious smoothies.

What’s the best way to make sure you’re incorporating these protein-rich food?
